New minecraft world builds

Since I haven't been posting much there is a lot to cover and so I figure the best way to show what's new is through a video.; enjoy :D

You can download the game in the downloads page.

Village Update

Some strange things have happened since I installed the Millenaire mod and Humans+

Sept-Freres ended up getting a sister village right beside it because I used a village wand on its town hall after burning it down. I thought I had destroyed the village but it was the Baby Animals mod causing the trouble. After I fixed the problem I had two villages.

Since adding Humans+ the villages are under constant attack. Knights ride in and kill the inhabitants. It's all quite bloody and they don't even spare woman and children! The raiders will just enter buildings and slaughter entire families. The village mobs respawn soon enough and it isn't having an effect on the population.

This is an assassin which won't attack evil characters. He didn't attack me.
I suppose since I'm apparently evil the spiders won't attack either.

The town has also acquired a friendly spider. It hisses and climbs but won't attack!?! I'm wondering if somehow I have become evil. Perhaps the villages are evil too,... it just shows how subjective ridiculous alignment systems are.

Minecraft Saved World Update

I have done a lot to the world since the last save. You can find the download link at the top of the page in Downloads and Archives. It's now 106.5mb.

Lakewood
I have the village mod running so there are now three villages. One is north of Lakewood (Sept-Freres) and the other two are just east of the rail/airship port (off the map).

There is rail running all the way from Apvia to Lakewood and it is all powered! The world map is too large for blogger so you can download it here if you wish: World Map. If you decide to take the rail be prepared to wait a while since the trip takes about 3 minutes :D

Apvia
I am still building the Lakewood rail/airship port and there will be a surprise there soon (I hope).

You'll notice there are two new airships at Lakewood. The Air Apvia ship is a passenger ship which I designed with the Glimmar's Steampunk texture pack in mind:

doors to cockpit.

flight controls

navigation control

for passengers

don't set it on fire!

Some other screen captures:

If you decide to download the saved game just extract the files (7zip is free) into your "saves" folder in your minecraft folder C:\Users\[user name]\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\saves

The save will extract to a "world5" folder, so be careful you don't over write your own world 5 (if you have one).

There is a more detailed example here:  Minecraft shared game and fileserve tutorial

Minecart Powered rail

I finished the small minecart station (Boodle Station) at the end of the Fucushima line and in the process got to play with powered rails.

I have decided to leave the booster carts on this line (I loose - nostalgia) but enhanced the line with power. My future lines will all be powered as I expect boosters to stop working in some future update.
This is Abby Station where all you need to do is get in the cart and hit the button. It's simple to build: two rails and a block with a button. The chest holds spare carts.

I experimented with different boosters and found one rail and two buttons works the best; anymore rails and the booster gets unpredictable.

This is the approach to Boodle Station.

This is the approach but from inside the station. The cart has the same 2 rail and button configuration.

This is the station from outside. I got tired of waiting for it to stop raining.

This is the Boodle district. The building to the far left is Boodle House: an exclusive club for gentlemen.
Here is a map of Boodle so far:

I rendered a world map and it came out at 37mb! Blogger rejected it.

Boodle was the name of the very first gentleman's club in England and Harrington house is named after the type font I'm using for these maps.

Map seed

Here are some more strange encounters I had getting back to Apvia. I think the new seed collided with the old one to create this huge wall. It reminds me of a fault line.

I finally made it back.

Map Making for Minecraft

I thought I would explain how to make a map in minecraft.

What you'll need:

Cartograph g
Paint program (I use paint.net since it's free and awesome)

Run Cartograph.

Select the world you want to map.

Select the options you want and press render (warning: it can take a while and might seem like it isn't working).

Selecting Isometric will give you the map type I am using here.

Once the map is made open it with paint.net (or whatever you use).

I zoomed in and cropped the image to the city (Apvia). I then labeled the areas using Ariel (22pt and 14pt). For the arrows I used wingdings.

For anyone following my blog Gravehome is right under The Silly House and Spiderhome is located just sw of Mob Tower (underground). Tunnels now connect The Arena, Waterfall Cove, Gravehome and Spiderhome.

This is Lakewood:

The Red Road is new and doesn't lead anywhere yet. The Portal is connected to the portal in Apvia and two others along the road. Unfortunately the portals won't function in server mode but for now they save me a lot of travel time. I'll post more about them later.

More minecraft: cactus tower and huge road

So I've been doing a lot on my game. Probably too much. I maybe need a life. But I digress...

I made a cactus factory that replaced Malvin's Cacti & Dye (the meanest prick in town).

I started with a sketch:

I built the foundation:

Made the building:

It's two stories (96 cactus in total) and produces a lot of cactus. The pieces are delivered to Gravehome via an underground water system:

I might add another two stories or maybe place a mob tower on top. I'm not sure.

I've also built a huge road to meet up with Lakewood Cottage. It isn't very safe yet but there are a few travelers houses along the way:
WARNING: This file is huge!

The white line is the road and the oval is a huge tunnel.

The road takes around 10 min to travel completely

This house is about 2 min from Lakewood

The house only has the one room

My daughter made this house:

I accidentally let a Creeper blow it up (but I repaired it).
It's about 4 min to Lakewood from here.

Master bedroom upstairs

Common room in basement.

And I ran into some slimes in my travels. There were so many I think Notch must have made them common; mind you, I've only seen them in Spiderhome:
